Overview

The team at Catermonkey wanted a fun explainer animation full of energy, colour and fun characters. We spent a lot of time, care and attention ensuring we got the perfect look and movement to each individual element for the project.
We also brought the Catermonkey mascot to life, using their minimalistic logo and adding more detail so that we could feature the monkey as one of the key characters in the video. Read on to find out how we created the video with a step-by-step process from beginning to end!

Step 1

Scriptwriting & Brainstorming

Catermonkey were a great client to work with, as they wanted their animated video to be funny as well as clearly outline their key points of interest. With this in mind, we were able to help create a script that flowed well, striking the perfect balance between fun and informational. It also allowed us to plan the on-screen visuals to come later in the process.
Step 2

Voiceover

At Kashu, we have a network of experienced and professional voiceover artists from around the world. In fact, we can provide voice-overs from talented artists in English, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, German, Norwegian, Croatian, French, Polish, Portugues, Romanian, and Bulgarian too! This Dutch voiceover was perfect, and gave the video an inviting tone that matched the design style perfectly.

Step 3

Sketching Phase

Speaking of design, that was the next step for this animation! Our buzzing team of designers got to work creating initial sketches for fun animal characters to feature in the video, including the monkey mascot and a funny pig who may have had a little too much to drink!
Step 4

Style sample

Once the client and our team were satisfied with the concept sketches, we moved on to creating more detailed style samples for the various settings and characters featured in the video. Fun fact, we spent plenty of extra time on the pig character, to give him a realistic drunk look, which turned out to be hilarious!
Step 5

Graphic storyboard

Before we commit the more detailed character and setting designs to animation, we ensure the narrative and order of the video plays out correctly by creating a storyboard. This allowed the team at Catermonkey to see exactly how the video would move between scenes and give any final feedback before animation.
Step 6

Animation

Now that we had our complete cast of funny characters, lively settings and a fun voiceover to give the whole video context and tone, we started bringing each scene into motion. Animations in this video included the Catermonkey mascot driving a van, using a computer for the Catermonkey system and of course, the party scene featuring our favorite piggy! We finalised the video with some nice backing music to create a finished product that we, and the client were thrilled with!
